Elk

Your horseback elk hunt is set in the rugged, high-elevation terrain of Unit 81, located within the Rio Grande National Forest in Southern Colorado. This unit is characterized by a mix of towering mountain peaks, subalpine plateaus, and deep canyons, making horse access essential for reaching remote elk havens far from vehicle pressure.

We offer full-service hunts for elk, bear, and deer during archery/black powder and rifle seasons, providing dependable riding and pack stock, fully equipped wall tents with wood stoves for heating, propane stoves for cooking, meals care and packing of game.

Each hunter is allowed 80 pounds of personal gear equally divided into 2-3 duffel bags.

Archery, black powder, first and fourth rifle seasons for elk, and all deer licenses are by drawing only with the application due in early April.

We do not offer 3rd and 4th season hunts due to the heavy snows.

Drop Camps Available  - For drop camps we provide horse and mule transportation for you and your gear into a camp complete with tents, cots, chairs, tables, lanterns, stoves, cooking utensils, ax and shovel. Your party will furnish food, sleeping and hunting gear. We do not pack in or out on Sundays, only in emergency situations.
