Craig Ranches

This Colorado elk hunt and guaranteed tags is in the Craig, Colorado area. The hunting property is broken up into 3 separate ranches for a total of 7000 acres. Each ranch is in close proximity to one another and the lodge is basecamp for all 3 ranches. The advantage of this configuration is if the bulls are in the higher country, they have that covered, and if the elk have started to move to the lower elevations, they are there as well. The terrain varies but all the country is accessible by vehicle as well. Max capacity at the lodges is 5-8, there are two separate lodges. So whether you are in great shape or no shape at all we can get you on critters.

The hunting area consists of grassy meadows, sagebrush, aspens, and oak brush. Perfect country for spot and stalk opportunities and the terrain is not technically challenging. Long-range shooting from 200 to 1000 yards is very doable. You will be at 6500 – 8500 feet in elevation. Both archery and rifle hunts are available. The tags are guaranteed and backed up by landowner permits.
The average success rate on rifle bulls is around 95%. Archery success is around 50% but the opportunity rate is closer to 95%. Tags are guaranteed but not included in price.
The average bull is a 4 x 4 to 5 x 5 and about 20% are 6 x 6’s. This is a high success and opportunity hunt with a lot of elk on the property. They provide good lodging, hearty meals, and hard-working folk to help you get your bull. Hunters should be prepared for potential long-range shooting as this is big open country.

Durango Ranches

This property in the south west part of the state consist of about 600 acres of ag and hay fields. This is an low physical hunt and consist of primarily watching the hay fields waiting for the elk to hit them. This property is surrounded by tribal land which creates a safe haven for elk. The area tends to produce bigger bulls due to lack of hunting pressure around the ranch. This is also a great hunt for lower physical capabilities and hunters wanting a meat / cow hunt.

Cow hunts are provided as a semi guided hunt. Lodging and guidance is provided but this is not a guided hunt. A guide can be added for $250 a day. Meals not included.

All hunts are 5 day hunts. Archery, muzzleloader and 1st rifle are draw hunts that can be drawn easily and if not drawn landowner vouchers are available for purchase. Second and third season rifle hunts are over the counter.

Fantastic Mule Deer are also found on these ranches. Ask about doing a elk / mule deer combo hunt.
